Contact EOR Bulgaria about employing someone
Hiring in Bulgaria raises questions of its own. Does a candidate with eight years’ experience bring a klas supplement on top of the agreed salary? How much do contributions add once pay passes the €2,300 monthly ceiling? Will a non-EU engineer’s offer clear the Blue Card pay threshold? Tell us about the role and we answer with figures for that person.

Why do firms employ in Bulgaria through EOR Bulgaria?
You need no EOOD and no employer file of your own. We sign the contract, record it with the NRA and declare pay every month, while recruitment and the final choice of candidate remain yours.
Small headcounts
An EOOD is cheap to register but then needs double-entry books, annual accounts and an occupational health service every year. With us, a second or third hire is one more contract on the same payroll, with nothing to close later.
Cost breakdown
Salary and employer contributions of 18.92% are invoiced at cost. Our own fee is shown on a line of its own, starting at €599 per employee per month. Contributions stop at the ceiling: a Sofia hire paid €40,000 a year costs the employer roughly €44,972 in 2026, before our fee. Since 1 August 2026 the ceiling is €2,300, up from €2,111.64: about €36 more a month.
Bulgarian specifics
Bulgarian payroll has its own moving parts: the klas supplement for each year of recognised service, earlier employers included; two contribution ceilings within one tax year; employer-paid sick pay at 70% for the first 2 working days; a register entry before anyone starts work; salaries stated in euro since 1 January 2026; and public holidays at a weekend shifting to the next working day.
Common questions
Questions we answer often: can probation run past 6 months (no)? What notice applies by default (30 days, or up to 3 months if agreed)? Is a post-employment non-compete enforceable (no)? How much overtime is allowed (150 hours a year, or up to 300 under a collective agreement)?
The same contact each year
One account manager stays with you from the first quote. When the ceiling moves or a hire’s klas rises, that person explains what changed on the invoice and why.
Individual cases
Each employee’s circumstances change the paperwork. A remote role needs the place of work written into the contract, and we pay for equipment, software and the internet connection. A parent of a child under 12 can request home working or new hours in writing. A candidate from outside the EU may need an EU Blue Card or a single permit, often 3 to 4 months away.
Once we start working together
- A written cost estimate covering pay, contributions to the ceiling and our fee
- Contract drafted in euro and entered in the NRA register
- Each month’s payroll released by you in the portal
- Final settlement prepared on exit
Your HR handled for Bulgaria
Who handles your team’s HR in Bulgaria?
A generic HR system files a sick note but won’t say who pays: in Bulgaria the employer covers the first 2 working days at 70%, then the NSSI. Nor will it warn that a fixed-term contract breaking the Labour Code limits counts as open-ended. We answer those points.
Three roles cover your account. Commercial points go to your account manager, monthly runs to the payroll team, and contracts, leave and exits to HR.
- Answers tied to the Labour Code
- One team on your account, year after year
